Herefordshire Council's scope of responsibilities is surprisingly wide. Everyone thinks of planning, roads and potholes, and rubbish. But social services - both adults and children - and education take up huge amounts of the council activity. Then there's licensing - everything from taxis, animal welfare, markets and so on. Buses and all the other "modalities" of transport that make up a transport plan. Footpaths. Building, promoting and supporting local economy. Enforcement of buildings, "riparian responsibility" with regards verges and ditches, illegal occupation...
This section covers some of the areas that I think are particularly of interest. And of course; there has to be a section on how it's all funded.
